The Project

Located in the heart of Adelaide on Grenfell Street, the $65 million Ibis Hotel was constructed as one of the city’s premier hotel developments. When opened to the public the visually stunning hotel included 311 state-ofthe-art hotel rooms, plus a variety of food and beverage outlets and significant conferencing space.

Fielders were commissioned by Hines Property Group to supply 9,000m2 of KingFlor® KF57® structural formwork for the development which would be used throughout each floor of the
17-storey complex.

The Solution

KingFlor® KF57® was chosen for the Ibis Hotel development due to its longer spanning capability and lower preparatory costs. Its advanced design allows for minimal propping requirements compared with traditional formwork products, resulting in an accelerated construction process and aiding on-time project completion.

The use of KingFlor® KF57® was beneficial to the builder given its wide pan profile allowed clear access for in-floor services, that combined with its superior fire resistant properties made it the most suitable product for the project.

The Process

KingFlor® KF57® was supplied during the construction phase of the 12-month build. Fielders worked with Hines Property and Watpac to install the decking throughout the development.

KingFlor® KF57®

Fielders KingFlor® is a revolutionary steel formwork solution ideal for complete concrete slabs in concrete and steel framed construction over lengthy spans. With a longer span and deeper profile
than existing formwork systems on the market, KF57® is one of the most cost-effective solutions.

KF57® is part of the Fielders KingFlor® range, one of the five deckings available which include two trapezoidal profiles, two re-entrant profiles and a deep deck profile. KingFlor® is Australia’s largest range of composite steel formwork, with the longest spans and deepest profiles on the market.
